Shopping With My Baby Girl!!!

So I took my baby girl shopping for the first time today.  Yes, she's still in my tummy but I went shopping WITH her, FOR her!!!!

Here's what Mommy bought Evelyn!!
Evelyn's FIRST book!!  This bunny stuffy is SO SOFT!!!!
One of my students gave me a gift card to Chapters for Christmas so
this was ALL free!!!
Went to Superstore/Joe Fresh and checked out the baby girl
stuff.  There was a MASSIVE clearance sale going on
for all Fall/Winter items!!! Average price for each piece here was
about $8...of not less!!!
Hats...$1.94 each!
Sweaters...$11 each!
Jeans...$9 each!
Vancouver Canucks onesies were from Collector's Den and they were
3 for $24.  Tops from Joe Fresh...$5 each!
Jackets...$15 each!
Shoes....$4 and $7!
This dress was $12 and I think this would make a
great outfit for Thanksgiving 2012 don't you think?

So there you have it....SUCCESS first shopping trip (first of MANY to come!!) with my baby girl!!! All these clothes were sizes 6-12 months because she'll be 5 months in September so it'll be perfect!  My goal is to NEVER buy my children ANY clothes at regular price until they're about 15! The way I see it, if I plan ahead and buy for the year after, there's no reason why I can't shop the clearance section after each season and pick out classic pieces that will look good ANY year right??!!!

Poll For Baby Evelyn....

So I'm going to start up a poll for baby Evelyn!!!  Here's what you do (I couldn't find a gadget for the side bar so this is the best way to do this)...

In the comments section simply copy and paste the following...

1) Date of birth
2) Weight at birth
3) Length at birth

Then add ':' after each topic and enter your guess.  Feel free to add more guesses such as hair/no hair at birth, who she'll look more like and with what features (Daddy's nose/Mommy's eyes) or whether or not you think she's a solid sleeper (yes please!).

FYI, here are some stats to help you predict.....

~Due date given by doctors: May 4th, 2012
~Daddy was born 8lbs 8oz.
~Mommy was born 3lbs 1oz.

YAY FUN! There's a link to this blog entry on the right side panel so all votes will be entered through here!

BTW here's the results for the gender poll.....
Boy...26 votes

Baby GIRL Preparations: Her Room!!!!

So now that we know we're having a baby girl....the fun begins!!! We pretty much were busy for the next 2 days after we found out (Dec 23rd) with Christmas dinners and family stuff but finally on the 26th we were able to sit and start thinking about all the things we need to do in preparation for our princess.

Here's what we have so far......

BEDDING:
So after checking out a TON of different girl bedding sets online (SO much easier to look around when you only have to search for ONE gender HAHA) here are the top 5 we like.....
I can't seem to find this one online anywhere....it's
Cocalo's Sienna...
This is one of our top choices out of the 5 but it's not available until January 2012
so we'll have to wait til then to see it in person before we decide. Lambs and Ivy's
Little Princess...how fitting right?
This is Ed's top pick out of the 5! Cocalo's Daniella.
This one's a bit more modern. Lambs and Ivy's Duchess.
I had liked this set for a boy (in blue of course) but it's cute in pink too!
Kids Line's Emma.
FURNITURE:
We know for sure we want WHITE furniture in her room.  Here's a few we like....
Love the sleigh cribs! Bily's Sydney.
The detail on this one is nice but I'm not a fan of the
pointy corners on top...I rather have it all smooth so
no one ever bumps into corners.  Storkcraft's Venetian.
I'm not sure if I like the bump up top? But perhaps with the type of bedding
we're wanting it will complement the look? Storkcraft's Monique.
I think this change table will match the Bily Sydney that
we like?  Storkcraft's Aspen Changetable.
This photo's dark and it's not in a nursery but I like this idea to replace
a drawer or chest.  I'd get nice white wicker baskets and sew (I'm sure I can
do it!!!) linings for them with fabrics that will complement the room.  Baby
things are tiny anyways and there's regular sized closet in the room so I think
this will be fine? Plus I like that you can put nice things on the top like photos
piggy banks and stuffed animals! Ikea's Expedit.

PAINT AND ROOM DECOR:
Once we decide on the bedding we will go to the paint store and choose the room's paint colours based on the colours of the bedding.  I think we will have 2 colours...again depending on the bedding.  Our trims are already white so we won't have to do anything...our house isn't even 2 years old so the paint is so fresh still.  Here are some more pics that have inspired us.....
We are definitely getting a mini chandelier of some sort.  Something that looks like this.
Leila Collection Plug-in Swag Chandelier.
I love this idea of white picture frames on one of the walls (possible
above the wall with the Ikea Expedit?).  All white but different!

I love the ideas of baskets on the floor for toys, books and stuff like that.
These types of tin baskets are nice too if I can find them in white and silver/nickel finishes!
Umm ya i LOVE this closet! Ours isn't as wide (it's standard size..2/3 of this one?)
I'd do the shelves in white and get similar baskets in pink?  Hmm maybe
we should paint the inside of the closet too!!!
These are a MUST have!!!!! TOO CUTE!!!!! Find them on Etsy! I'm pretty sure
I can get them custom made to match the bedding too!!!!!
That's it for now...I'll update as I find more things to do to her room! We also went to set up our baby registry yesterday too!!!!  Evelyn is registered at....feel free to look it up and buy her something heheheheheheheh!!!
104357 is our registry ID!

We Are Having A...

Yes we're officially having a baby girl!!! As I mentioned in previous posts, we were tossing around the names Emily and Evelyn if the baby was a girl.  We decided on....Evelyn!!!! So from now on we get to call 'it' Evelyn Grace!!!!!!

Here are some pics from the ultrasound!!! She was moving a LOT and is quite the contortionist, according to the ultrasound tech!  Bring on all the shopping, tea parties and all things girly!!!!!!!!!!! We are already so in love and Ed has already set a few rules...one being that she will NOT be allowed to swim in a 2 piece LOL!!!!!! I told him he needs to start practicing at the shooting range regularly!!!!  I know he has NO clue what having a little princess will be like and that his heart will melt the moment he holds her.
Baby's profile...you can see body and head...she's got Ed's nose I think!!!
Love it!!! She's so cute!!!!!
Another shot of Evelyn....the 2 holes are her heart chambers!
This is her on her back...legs on the left and arms crossed in
front of her face on the right!
Her foot kicking me LOL
Heartbeat...this is a still photo of course but when we saw it on the
screen it was pumping in real time!!

Second OB Visit!!!!

HAHA I thought this photo was funny....

So we had our 2nd OB visit on Tuesday. I was told after the first visit that I'd be getting a PAP test done at the second visit but it turned out that since my last PAP was done in April, I didn't have to have one done yet! YAY!!  I was really relieved.  I've ever only had 1 PAP test done and I hated it!

We got to hear the baby's heartbeat again and this time she checked my body.  Checked my breasts and tummy.  It was a HANDS ON visit.  Everything checked out and they weighed me...I gained 3 pounds since my last visit??!! How did that happen? I think my scale at home isn't accurate HAHA

We also got my requisition form for our ultrasound TOMORROW!!!! We are SO excited!!!! More to come!!! I won't be revealing the gender until after the weekend because we want to be able to tell family and friends first rather than them seeing it here or on Facebook.  Stay tuned and if you haven't voted yet....vote!!!  *Gender Poll on the right side panel*  I will also start a new poll in the new year....for due date and baby's weight!!!!

The fun begins!!!!!!!!!!

Weight: 93 lbs (same as last week...I think I've gained a solid 5 pounds since before pregnancy??)

19th Week Update and Belly Pic!

Symptoms: I  can't say much about things this week because I had a nasty cold!!! Not a flu (thank God) but a really bad cold.  I was all stuffed up and congested....sucked that I couldn't take anything for it but at least I get paid sick days off from work!!! I got myself a Neti Pot so I will use that to try to at least FEEL better.
Mood: I was just sick...
Cravings: Nothing.  I hope being sick this week didn't hurt the baby since I didn't have much of an appetite at ALL!!  I tried eating things here and there and drank milk a lot when I knew I needed to eat but just couldn't.  Also drank lots of water so I was well hydrated.
Bump Measurement: 31.75 inches (yup definitely growing .25 inches every week!!)
Weight: 93lbs (surprisingly I've GAINED...maybe staying home and sleeping/sitting all day long does that?? Or maybe I'm finally starting to gain weight!!!!)
19 weeks!!!
3 weeks vs 19 weeks!!!  CRAZY!!!

Flutters and Shopping and Excitement OH MY!!!

Flutters
So I am DEFINITELY feeling flutters this these days!!! Totally feeling little bubbles inside of me! I CANNOT wait to feel an official KICK! I don't think it will happen until the new year though!!!  Since they're only flutters Ed can't feel them yet so it will be nice for him to finally get to be a part of all this instead of just knowing!

Shopping
No, I haven't gone out and BOUGHT anything yet.  But we've been to a number of baby stores now and we're slowly learning about all the things we will need to be getting.  It's quite overwhelming and we can only be in the store for chunks at a time because the sales people are SO great in schooling us in all the different categories that we need time to digest.  When we first found out we were expecting we went to Baby's World and got schooled in strollers and car seats.  Since then we've pretty much decided which stroller and car seat to get.  All we need to do is go to the States and check out the prices down there and then we'll know where we will want to buy them from in March.
Since our first shopping trip we've been in and out of baby stores and department stores with baby sections looking at actual furniture.  Price ranges are HUGE and quality varies too.  We know we probably will want a crib that will convert into a bed later on (we can either use it for our kid later or as a spare bed in a guest room).  There are also many pieces of furniture that we don't think we will need.  We think we will only need to really get the crib, changing table, maybe a small dresser and a rocking chair for the nursery. Here are inspirations for what we like for a boy or girl's nursery! That's all we've got for actual furniture so far!
Last month we went to TJ'S Kiddies and got started looking at bedding.  I must say, it's a LOT easier to find bedding for a boy than a girl.  I'm not liking the options out there for girls.  Do NOT like the brown and pink combos!!!!  I want more pastel and pretty colours!  Something more light pink, white and grey.  Need to do way more research on that! Any suggestions send them my way!!
This past week we went back to Baby's World and this time got schooled in bassinets, play pens and baby carriers!!!!  I'm leaning towards getting a play pen that we can have in our room in lieu of a bassinet.  There are some that you can raise up so it's more like a mini crib and lower down later to use as an actual play pen.  Some even come with a changing table attached and storage underneath!  I think we'll get more use out of that rather than getting a bassinet AND a play pen later on.  Now we just have to research which one we want! We will probably get a Graco Pack N' Play but there are about 30 different kinds HAHA We want to get a simple black/more gender neutral one since it's not really going into the nursery.  In the world of baby carriers, I tried on the Baby Bjorn carriers and Baby K'Tan cloth carriers.  I definitely like the cloth carrier better because it fits me better since I'm so tiny.  Also it will be easier to just throw into the diaper bag when I'm out too.  The Bjorn ones are chunky!  But at the same time the cloth carriers come in sizes so Ed would NOT fit into mine...not that he'd want to use a cloth carrier.  Those don't look good on men HAHA.  We might just have to get one of each!
We're also checking out Craigslist to see if there is anyone selling nice used furniture too.  Something like the changing table could be used...no big deal.  The only things I'd want brand new for sure would be the crib, stroller and car seat.
I think once we know what we're having we will be able to better figure out what we need and be more specific on colours and such.  We also plan on getting out baby registries up and going by the end of January!!!

Excitement
A LOT of exciting things to be excited about these days in our world of pre-baby! We have our gender reveal ultrasound in 2.5 weeks!  Ed is just DYING to find out what we're having so he can start painting! I on the other hand am a bit nervous because this ultrasound is also supposed to check if the baby is developing normally.  I'm trying hard to not think too much about it because really, we get what we get and as parents we need to accept our children for whatever they are.  I guess this is the next phase of my faith.  I need to more than ever just trust in God and believe that everything that happens is good for me (even if it's not something I want).
We also booked out 3D ultrasound....on my BIRTHDAY!!  January 19th (when I turn 29) is when we will be going in!  If all goes well with our next ultrasound we plan on inviting our parents to the viewing. I'm glad we are doing this ultrasound because if for whatever reason we can't see if the baby is a boy or a girl in the next ultrasound...this one will kind of serve as a back-up one? I'm just praying that our baby will not be crossing it's legs and that we will get to see if IT is Ethan Gabriel or Emily Grace!!!
After both ultrasounds, we will then get off our butts and really start with the shopping stuff.  We will need to set up baby registries at all the stores that we plan to buy from and select items that people can get for us (we plan to get the big ticket items and our friends/family can help out with all the random knick knacks! There's still so many things to THINK about (bath stuff, toys, clothes and bedding).  We need to head down to the States too and check out the price differences.  We're pretty sure strollers, car seats and play pens will be cheaper down there so we plan on getting those things in the States rather than in Canada.

That's it for now!!!
I think the most exciting thing about our next 2 ultrasounds IS that we will no longer have to call our baby an IT!  As you all have read earlier on, we already have names chosen!  It will be so amazing to start calling our baby by name!!!!  I love both those names so much and think they will be perfect for our little IT!
