39th Week Update and Belly Pic!!

So on Friday April 27th I went to my regular weekly check up.  The doctor felt the baby and could not for certain feel her head down low anymore.  Since it was a Friday and ultrasound places would be closed and probably all booked for Monday...AND I was 39 weeks pregnant...I was sent to the hospital for an ultrasound the next day (Saturday).  We get a call 8am Saturday morning saying to come in as soon as we could for an ultrasound.  We're there just before 9am.  We get hooked up and the ultrasound revealed that indeed baby was breech.  The doctor told us that we had 2 options...to have a C-Section THAT DAY or to try having the baby turned.  We opted for the latter because I did NOT want a C-Section.  I burst into tears and started shaking all over because I was TERRIFIED of the idea of being cut open.  Not once in my entire pregnancy did I ever even THINK that I'd have to get a C-Section.  It was a total shock and I was NOT handling it well.  So they moved me into the operating room where I was instructed to lie down flat for a few hours in hopes that the baby will disengage from the pelvis so that it'd be easier for them to turn her.  5 hours later we were told that because there were so many emergency births that day that we'd have to come back the following day (tomorrow) to try to turn her.  They did not want to try right then because the process of turning the baby could put me into labour or it could rupture the placenta...both of which would require me to have a C-Section right away....and they didn't have enough staff to do all that right then if it came to it.  They checked the baby again and the ultrasound showed that she was still fully breeched.  The chances of them being able to turn her successfully is 30-60%.  The chances of her turning by herself by my due date is 5%.  SO...we are going back tomorrow...and we will try to have her turned.  But most likely it will end up in a C-Section I think.  Baby COULD be here tomorrow!!!

Symptoms: Been crampy here and there.  Still no signs of labour.

  2. sorry to hear that! hope everything goes well. And if you do need a c-section, remember that you'll be holding your baby girl at the end of it. If that's the safest thing for her, then that's what needs to be done. BUT hopefully you'll be able to turn her! Good luck!
