26th Week Update and Belly Pic!

Can you believe I'm 6.5 months already???? CRAZY!!!

Symptoms: About 1 or 2 days a week I totally feel my belly stretching and baby growing.  I'm pretty tired at the end of those days but most of the time I'm the same old me!
Mood: Tired at times but otherwise the same as before! I'm just getting more and more excited as the weeks go by!!
Cravings: I think I can officially say I crave sweets!  I'm usually more of a sodium girl.  I'd crave chips before chocolate.  But lately I realllllllly want sweets!! This kind of sucks because at this point of my pregnancy I need to watch how much sweets I eat so I don't become diabetic!
Bump Measurement: 34.75 inches...I grew .75 inches!! CRAZY!!
Weight: 103 lbs! Gained 2 lbs!!!! I guess the weight will start coming on now....I think it's safe to say I'll average 1 lb. a week-ish???  I've gained 18 lbs since we found out we were expecting!!!
26 weeks....6.5 months!!!!! 3.5 more to go!!!
week 3 vs 26 weeks!!!!
Speaking of diabetes...I had my monthly doctor visit this Tuesday and got my slip to go get my pregnancy diabetes test...the one where I'll have to drink that orange syrup.  I'll be going in February 11th bright and early because you need to fast before the test so I figured I could just roll out of bed and get there (the test is 2 hours) and then go out for a big brunch afterwards.  I've heard SO many horrible things about this syrup but when people describe it to me they say it's like drinking realllly thick orange pop...I'm not worried.  I LOVE orange pop and I'm totally sure that as a Chinese person, I've had to down worse things before (I'm talking about those horrible black bitter gross concoctions that grandma and mom would brew for me to drink when I was little and sick). So I'm not worried...in fact I'm kind of looking forward to it because it's another milestone...AND I'll be in my 3rd trimester by then!!!!

Oh and next weekend I'll be picking up our bedding...can't wait to finally have it in our possession and to go pick out wall colours!!! Our tenants are moving out mid February so as soon as they're gone we will have an extra room downstairs to start moving things around so we can get the nursery emptied out and painted!!! I CANNOT wait to get this nursery started!!!! I think I'm going to wait until it's painted and the furniture is in before I post....and then I'll do another post on decorating!!!

3D Ultrasound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday, on my 29th birthday Ed, my parents, my little sister and I went to the 3D ultrasound for Evelyn....here are some pics!!!
When this part of the ultrasound came up EVERYONE agreed that she looked like DADDY!!!!!
Look at that nose!!!
She yawned/smiled/laughed about 3 times in a row and was rubbing her eyes!
Another view of her face...that nose!!!!!
She really liked putting her hands around her mouth...and maybe she's
even sucking her thumb here...or praying? LOL
It was SUCH an amazing experience!!!  She was in weird positions throughout the scan! At one point all we could see was the BACK of her head and another she was so curled up that he feet were where her head was!! SO flexible! It was also cool to see her kick and move around at the same time I felt her kicking and moving!!!  She's SO active!!!!!

I knew from our last ultrasound that she totally had Ed's features....and I was right!!! She's got Ed's nose for sure (which is what I wanted my kids to have hehehe) and her face shape is definitely his shape, although you COULD say that she takes on after grandma (my mom)!!!

We got to hear the heartbeat as well and it was just SO cool to see her moving around with all her little features...fingers, toes, nose, eyes, lips and all!!!  I can't believe that only 20 weeks ago when we went in for our first ultrasound she was the size of a grain of rice!!! CRAZY how they grow and even crazier that she's INSIDE of me!! Babies really are a miracle.  To me, there's no denying that God is a Great God because who else can come up with such a beautiful way to bring life into the world?  It is AMAZING how the female body can grow/adapt to carrying another human being inside her own...cuz seriously...who would have thought DAISY could expand like she has?? LOL I still can't believe I'm over 100 lbs and that I'll probably gain at least another 5-10 lbs in the next 3.5 months!

SO many fun/exciting things to pass the time in the next few months!!! All our bedding has arrived (I just need to wait until the first week of February...when I have time...to pick them up at my friend's house in the States) and then our tenants downstairs will be moving out.  This means we will be able to clear Ed's office (which will become the nursery) and start painting mid February!  My parents offered to buy the crib for us and we ordered it today...it's scheduled for pick up on February 25th (perfect timing as painting will be done by then) and then everything in her room will start to come together.  From then on I have tons of birthdays and a very special baby shower to attend (no, not mine!) before Spring Break hits.  My baby shower will be the last week of March and then Easter will be here in no time.  Can't believe how time has passed so quickly! August 22nd, 2011 (the day we found out we were expecting) seemed like a few days ago and already we are T-Minus 4 months to go!

I'm already thinking I'll miss being pregnant...it truly IS an amazing experience!!!

Baby Transportation!!

So as I mentioned in a previous blog, we've decided which stroller, car seat and baby carriers to get! Here are my reviews on our choices....perhaps I'll be helping someone out there researching??
Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Sip Car Seat
We decided on this particular car seat mainly because it was compatible with most strollers that we were looking at.  Although Peg Perego does have it's own line of strollers, Ed and I were looking for a 3 wheeler with more jogging and special terrain capabilities.  I personally liked this car seat because it also had the easy-pull tightening along with multiple safety features for the buckles.  Most other car seats have buckles where kids would be able to play with and open but this one's more child proof.  The car seat also adjusts to the child's side by sliding a button on the backside which in turns slides the head piece of the cushion inside the car seat up and down making more room for growth!  Lastly, I liked the Peg Perego car seats because I thought they were pretty stylish too...they got quite a few different fabrics to choose from!
Bob Revolution CE Stroller
Ed and I chose this stroller because we were looking for a 3 wheeler.  Obviously, there are other 3 wheeler strollers out there but after testing out (the store we went to allowed their customers to test out any strollers by putting weights inside them and strolling around the store and to take them out to their cars too to see if the can get it into the car in and out easily) a few in the same price range as the Bob, we decided that this one had the best handling and weight.  It was really important for us to get a stroller that was super light weight and easy to collapse seeing that I'm so tiny and if Ed was not with me during the day I needed to be able to get it in and out of the car myself.  The only thing I didn't like about this stroller was that the hood didn't open down...meaning if I was pushing it and wanted to see my kid, the only way is through a window....the hood didn't push down away from me if I was standing behind it.  I was annoyed with this because I thought it was important to be able to see my baby but it turns out the Peg Perego car seat faces the person pushing it anyways...it's not until the child is old enough to actually SIT in it that they will be facing away....so that didn't end up being a problem! We also liked this stroller because it would be it's perfect for running and would be great on rocky terrain (we like to go for walks but not like crazy hikes...the lake we go to has a few patches of rocky stuff so a typical 4 wheeler would have sucked for that).  And again lastly, the style of it is pretty cool. We actually learned about the Bob because we kept seeing it at the mall or at the parks and thought it was a nice looking stroller! We still haven't decided whether to get the city or sports edition...it's a $10 difference...but the sports edition has bigger wheels and they do not come in aluminium spokes.  The city one (pictured above) has smaller wheels and aluminum spokes....a bit nicer looking and sleeker too.
Baby K'Tan Positions
Baby K'Tan Breeze Baby Carrier
We had a hard time choosing a baby carrier. This was mostly because I'm so tiny.  The Baby Bjourn ones are great but because they're made to size...even the XS was realllllly huge on me.  I also found those kinds of carriers uncomfortable and chunky.  We're opting for a cloth carrier because it's light weight, easily adjustable for me and also easy to pack (you can throw it into your diaper bag!).  The store we tried them on did mention that we won't need one RIGHT away so perhaps bringing the baby in after it's born and then trying them out would be a better idea.  We plan on doing this but for now...cloth carriers are what we're leaning towards.

Oh and we'd also be getting everything in BLACK....just easier with cleanliness and gender if we ever have a boy later on....don't want to invest in a pink stroller and have to use it later LOL!!

23rd Week Update and Belly Pic!

Symptoms: Major fatigue has hit me again! My body is starting to get sore....the area above my bump and below my breasts...especially when I have sat for a long time...it's like the bump is so big that it squishes against my breasts and becomes sore!!
Mood: I'm starting to feel a bit more anxiety these days...but I'm also not sleeping though the night (I just keep getting up to pee or just waking up because I need to turn my body) and tired a lot.
Cravings: Still nothing!
Bump Measurement: 33.25 inches! (gained .5 inches since last week!!)
Weight: 100 lbs....yes I've OFFICIALLY hit 3 digits people!!!! HUGE milestone for me!!!! I've gained 15 lbs!!!
Jan 8th, 2012....23 weeks!!
SO ROUND!
week 3 v s week 23....crazy what 20 weeks can do!!

1.5 weeks until our 3D ultrasound!! We also bought Evelyn's bedding too!!! Can't wait to get it in the mail and then get paint to start the nursery!!

Decisions About Diapers!

I knew all along well before I was pregnant that when the time came, I would opt for cloth diapers.  There are more and more companies popping up in the Greater Vancouver area that provide cloth diaper services.   When I went to the Vancouver Baby Fair back in October, there was one company, Saucy Bottoms, with a table there.  I spent quite a bit of time chatting with the owner about the pros/cons about cloth diapers and also inquiring about their services.  I left feeling even MORE sure that  I wanted a cloth diaper service for my baby.

Ed agreed too because of a number of reasons.
1. Our garbage pick up is once every OTHER week.  Yes...and garbage only gets picked up here twice a month...if that.  Over Christmas and New Years  it was worse.  Because of the holidays, the days got shuffled and we didn't have garbage picked up...well...let's just say our last pick up was a week before Christmas and our next pick up since then won't be until this coming Thursday....ya 3 weeks! And with the holidays we've had MORE garbage! So needless to say 2 weeks of diapers sitting in our garbage outside is NOT what we want.  Saucy Bottoms picks up dirty/drops off clean diapers 2 times a WEEK!
2. Price. The cost of an average pack of diapers here is about what?....$30 for a pack of 24?  With newborns especially, I have been told that I'll be changing diapers pretty much close to every hour.  Can you imagine how much that would cost?  It'd be in the HUNDREDS a week! With cloth diaper services, it's an average of $25 a week and you get UNLIMITED diapers.  I like that you pay a flat rate and you get unlimited diapers. Keeps the funds way more manageable.
3. Eco-Friendly.  Ed and I are not really exactly totally eco-friendly people.  I mean we recycle what we can because we were raised that way but we're not tree-huggers.  But the idea of reusing cloth diapers that get washed rather than using disposable plastic diapers that get tossed into the dumpster makes complete sense...especially if it's cheaper to do so!
4. Looks.  Ed and I both agreed after seeing the diapers at the baby fair that they look way cuter than the disposable ones.  There are all different types of fabrics, designs and colours that we can get them in! And since we know we're having a girl....we can get all the cute, fun, pretty ones!!!

We still haven't decided which cloth diaper service company to go with yet but Saucy Bottoms is one of them...so is Happy Nappy (a friend of mine who recently had a baby is using them).  We'll decide soon and give either one of them a call!!!  I'll blog about this topic again once I have things set up!!

22nd Week Update and Belly Pic!

Symptoms: LOTS of kicking from Evelyn!! I swear she responds to us when we talk to her and actually TELL her to kick!!!!!!! So amazing!!!! THE coolest thing ever!
Mood: I'm a pretty happy Mommy-to-be right now!!!!!
Cravings: Still nothing....again I'm hungry more often and when I eat I get bloated quickly so I can't eat a lot in one sitting.
Bump Measurement: 32.75 inches (no change)
Weight: 98/99 lbs ....SO close to 3 digits!!!

In less than 3 weeks we will get to see Evelyn's face at our 3D ultrasound!!!!

22 weeks!

My pregnancy line is so dark!

Bring on 2012!!!!!!!

Happy 2012 everyone!!!!!!

I am SO happy this year has finally arrived!!! This year has started off great already!!!

Evelyn has been kicking up a STORM lately and my mom, sister and brother got to feel her kick in the last few days.  SO fun!!! It's also been a blast shopping for her and my family shopping for her.  I know my mom is SO excited to finally have a grandchild and I think she's super happy that it's a girl! The three of us will have TONS of fun things to do together in the future!

My sister got engaged on NYE! I was already in the loop about this but it was still somewhat a surprise because we didn't think it was going to happen so soon...I mean we were hoping it was soon but what a way to ring in the new year!  I haven't seen her yet but when she goes home tonight at my mom's the family is going to have a surprise party for her!

2012 is huge for my family.  My dad is turning 60 this summer! I need to start planning his big birthday party hehehe!  He NEVER has a birthday thing.  I think it will be super special for him since he will have a grandchild to show off at his party hehe! Evelyn will only be 1.5 months old so still super cute and tiny!

Weddings, milestones and babies in 2012 for my family!!!!  I hope it bring blessings and great joy to yours too!!!!! Thank you so much for following my blog and all the wonderful comments you all leave me.  I'm very lucky to be able to have a creative outlet for my crazy mind!!!
